The Office of National Coordinator for Health Information Technology has put forth proposed guidelines for the contents of patient summaries, which will be attached to downloaded electronic health forms. The article above provides a link to complete set of proposed guidelines. The proposal seeks to create standards for the fields of metadata that should be provided when electronic health records are downloaded by healthcare providers, as well as by patients seeking their own information.
One of the features of the proposed standard guidelines is that the data being transmitted will require encryption.
