This article provides information regarding a panel discussion held on August 6th at the recent ABA conference. This article provides insight into ethical pitfalls associated with the use of social media by lawyers, judges and even jurors. The article references a case dubbed, "Mistrial by Google" where a juror admitted to doing research about media articles related to the case. In addition, another example is mentioned where a juror mentioned of Facebook that she was looking forward to announcing the guilty verdict.
The use of social media can cause many various challenges for the legal profession, and as the use of such electronic forms of communication continues to rise, there will be issues the legal profession needs to address.
