Article provides a link to opinion 15/2011 which provides guidelines regarding the EU's requirements to obtain consent of an employee prior to processing personal data.

The article provides information regarding general considerations regarding data privacy for ESI that is stored within the EU. Affirmative constent of an employee is required prior to processing of the employees ESI.  In addition, consent must be freely provided, be specific, informed and unambigous.  The specifics of what constitues these factors are further discussed in the article.
