4.2 million pieces of patient data -- unencrypted -- stolen from office

An article by Roy Edroso posted on the decision health daily website.

This article discusses an incident involving Sutter Healthcare in Sacramento California.  The article states, "This week Sutter Health revealed that a computer was stolen from their offices -- and with it went data on 4.2 million patients." According to the article, a rock was thrown through an office window and the computer was stolen.  The files in the computer were not enrcypted.

The article further states, "...among the 3.3 million missing SPS records, patient medical record numbers were the most significant information, but the SMF info included 943,000 patient diagnoses and dates of services."
