Facebook Confesses Failure to Comply with Privacy Laws

http://ow.ly/7L0LO

An article by Peter Vogel on the Internet, Information Technology and e-Discovery Blog.

The article discusses a consent order with the Federal Trade Commission, that Facebook has agreed to, in order to address privacy violations.

The article states, "After the US government filed charges that Facebook violated US privacy law, Facebook finally confessed that it failed to protect the privacy of its 800 million active users. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) welcomes the public to submit comments on the settlement through December 30, 2011."  Links to the proposed settlement are provided in the Mr. Vogel's blog post.

P.S. The article also provides sound advice....don't simply rely on government agencies, police your own privacy too.
