Controlling the Conversation: It's Getting Embarrassing

http://ow.ly/7N6Dc

An article by Nicole Ferraro posted on the internetrevolution.com website.

The article discusses attempts made to control social media remarks via lawsuits, and other threats regarding comments made.

The article cites the recent insults made against a Governor of a U.S. State by an 18 year old in Kansas, and also threats made by a dentist over negative review posts.

The article states, "The lesson to be learned here is an obvious one, but it's one that people and organizations are still having a hard time grasping: Efforts to try to control, rather than participate in, the conversation online are futile and, frankly, embarrassing. What would have likely been an easily disregarded comment by Robert Lee blew up into a much bigger news story about the dentist and her attempts to contractually silence her patients."
